The Profile Experience Investor Workshop in Birmingham

What do investors actually look for when deciding where to put their money? And what should founders understand before they start raising?

We’re wrapping up 2026 with an Investor Workshop hosted by Birmingham Angels, bringing together investors and founders for a practical conversation about how startup investing actually works.

We’ll hear directly from experienced investors about how they evaluate opportunities, what gets their attention, what raises red flags, and what founders often misunderstand about the fundraising process.

Then, like all The Profile Experience workshops, we’ll get everyone involved through interactive conversations and exercises designed to help you apply what you're hearing.

Whether you're a founder who has raised capital, someone considering a raise in the future, an active investor, or simply interested in understanding this side of Michigan's startup ecosystem, there will be something to take away.

Meet the Panelists:

• Monica Wheat: Venture capital investor and longtime supporter of Michigan's startup ecosystem.

• Patti Glaza: Experienced investor and leader in Michigan's innovation and investment community.

• Shivaji Sengupta: Technology entrepreneur, professor, and active investor bringing a perspective from both sides of the table.

• Doron York: Investor and founder advisor who will also lead our interactive workshop.
